Richland Township Treasurer The Township Treasurer is Daniel R. Preuss. Taxes are levied twice a year (see below). The taxes are due December 1st and are payable at the Richland Township Office through February. The Township Office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. for tax payments. Beginning March 1st, all taxes and penalties must be paid at the Treasurer's Office at the Saginaw County Court House, 111 S. Michigan Avenue, Saginaw, Michigan. Open your tax statement immediately and check for errors. Errors may include a trash assessment on a vacant parcel, homestead exemption (if you quality), name, property or mailing address. If you find an error, please contact us immediately. Please notify the Township Office Assessor by the 2nd week of December in order to make corrections prior to the December Board of Review. The Township Assessor is available Thursdays 9 a.m. - Noon for questions about your assessed and/or taxable values and homestead status. TAX COLLECTION FOR SUMMER OF 2010 Due to a change in State Law, PA 243 of 2002, all local units of government must collect the State Education Tax (SET) on a summer property tax bill; starting summer of 2007, all of the County Operating will also be collected. Summer property tax bills will be mailed to all property owners on July 1st and must be paid by September 14th to avoid interest penalties. In 2010, 6 mills will be collected on the summer bill along with
the County Operating and the
winter bill will no longer reflect this tax. Due to a change in state
law (Public Acts 356 and 357 of 2004), all of the county allocated
operating millage will be shifted to the July 2010 property tax bill from the
December 2010 property tax. Under the MCL 211.51, property taxpayers may defer until February 15, without penalty or interest, the due date of their summer taxes on their property, if their household income for the preceding calendar year did not exceed $40,000 and you are 62 years of age or the unmarried surviving spouse of a person who was 62 or older at the time of death, paraplegic or quadriplegic, eligible service person, eligible veteran, eligible widow or widower, blind person or tally and permanently disabled; or if the property is classified or used as agricultural real property and the gross receipts of agricultural or horticultural operations in the previous year is not less than your household income for the preceding year. The Office will be open from 8 A.M. to 5 P.M. to receive tax payments. After this date, (March 1st) all unpaid (summer and winter) taxes will be returned to the Saginaw County Treasurer as delinquent. There is a drop box located in front (south doors) of the Richland Township Administration Office for payments after office hours.
