The Township currently is divided into two voting precincts with a total of 3,000 registered voters.  Voting for both precincts is held at the Richland Township Administration Office located at 1180 North Hemlock Road. Currently, the Township employs one full-time deputy.  Approximately 20 election workers are trained to work at the elections under the supervision of the Township Clerk.  Primary, General, Special, Township and School elections are conducted by the Township Clerk's Office.  Voter registrations are kept on file in the Township Clerk's office.  The deputy clerk currently updates all voter records.  The Township is "on line" with the State of Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF).

The Clerk's office maintains custody of all records, books and papers of the Township.  This includes keeping the financial records and safeguarding the minutes of the board meetings, ordinances, and resolutions adopted by the Township Board.  By direction of the Township Board the financial reporting and budgeting function has been delegated to the Fiscal Services Director.  This portion of the Clerks responsibility is budgeted under the Fiscal Service's account but the responsibility of its accuracy and the withdrawal of bank funds require the signature of both the Clerk and Treasurer.  Draft minutes of the Township Board meetings are available within 5 business days for review.  Summaries of all meetings are published in a local newspaper.  Minutes are uploaded onto this site when available.

There is one cemetery owned and maintained by Richland Township. Richland Township Cemetery is located in the 15000 Block of Gratiot Road.
